Ocean Isle Beach Park to Receive Over $5 million in Upgrades

The Ocean Isle Beach Park is ready to receive upgrades after the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners approved a $4.47 million construction contract to Carmichael Construction Company of Southport to complete phase two of the park.

Phase two will bring four new ball fields, a press box with concession stand and restrooms, six pickleball courts, a dog park, parking improvements, a walking trail, fitness stations and two new basketball courts.

The project is expected to take 12-months from a start date expected in spring.

Town staff anticipates the Ocean Isle Beach Park will remain open for access to the tennis courts and playground area during construction. It is estimated that the general contractor will begin construction at the end of March or early April. Barring any major setbacks, this is estimated to be a 12-month project.

This is not the only upgrades to the Ocean Isle Beach Park that have been recently approved, in August of 2017 the town voted in favor of new LED sports field lighting for the park. The lighting is expected to cost nearly $900,000 bringing the total budget for upgrades to the park at $5.68 million.

The Ocean Isle Beach Park is located at 6483 Old Georgetown Rd SW, Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
